Strong December income is key to your ministry’s overall financial health. Raising one third of your annual budget at year end helps sustain you financially during months when giving is traditionally leaner.
The 5 Months of Christmas is our program for successful year-end funding.
Beginning in September by sending an email update to ministry partners (so you feel comfortable mailing a funding letter in November), then preparing and mailing a funding letter, following up the letter, and concluding with thank-you notes for year-end gifts in January, we provide guidance and resources each step of the way so your funding is where it needs to be when the new year arrives.

Overview
September
- Send a ministry email update and contact lapsed givers
October
- Update your online giving page photo and bio in Workday (if it’s been nine months or longer). Staff who serve in “sensitive” ministries are exempt.
- Order current commitment cards and envelopes or the 2024 Special Edition Year-End commitment cards and envelopes from navigatorstore.com (if you send your letter through prayerletters.com, request commitment cards through them)
- Upload your funding letter draft via navs.me/mpdmadesimple
November
- Mail (not email) your physical year-end funding appeal packet (funding letter, commitment card, and response envelope) to your entire mailing list
- Mail a funding appeal packet to the MPD Team (The Navigators, Attn. MPD Team, P.O. Box 6000, Colorado Springs, CO 80934)
December
- Email a giving reminder that includes your giving link to all who received your funding letter
- Call 10 ministry partners to follow-up on their giving decision (the intent is to have conversations with partners, not to leave voice mail messages)
January
Mail thank-you notes for all year-end gifts
